John R. Kouris writes with the precision of an attorney and the empathy of a man who has spent a lifetime observing quiet human courage. A lifelong resident of Northwest Indiana, he spent six decades at the intersection of law, leadership, and mentorship, serving as the Chief Operating Officer of the National Institute of Trial Attorneys, and for twenty-one years, as Executive Director of DRI–Lawyers Representing Business, the world’s largest association of defense attorneys.

He also spent thirty-nine seasons on the football field, not as a player, but as an official. Twenty-five of those are at the Division I level. The discipline, integrity, and silent fraternity of that world breathe through every page he writes.
