Meet The Author
Victor N. Shaw, Ph.D., holds a bachelor’s degree in natural sciences, a master’s degree in humanities, and a doctoral degree in social sciences. His education and training traverse all three domains of human knowledge.
Dr. Shaw is interested in the study of crime, social control, academic careers, higher education, organizational behavior, cultural studies, public policy, and social theory. He has published eleven books, ten book chapters in edited volumes, and forty journal articles.
Among his works, Substance Use and Abuse: Sociological Perspectives appeared in Outstanding Academic Titles, 2003; Career-Making in Postmodern Academia has been recognized for graduate and postgraduate professional audiences; Conspicuous and Inconspicuous Discriminations in Everyday Life is part of the Routledge Studies in Social and Political Thought; Three Worlds of Collective Human Experience offers a paradigm for research on ways of knowing, acting, and living in social theory; and From Autocracy to Democracy to Technocracy explores the evolution of human polity.
